The Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina provides emotional support and resource information to families of children with disabilities, chronic illness, premature birth and to parents who have experienced the death of a child.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed during the dates and times listed below. If you can help with any of these activities, please call the Family Support Network at (252) 328-9332 or email fsnenc@gmail.com.

Sunday, November 23rd (1-7pm) - Tree Set Up and Tree Decoration

Monday, November 24th (9am-9pm) - Tree Decoration

Thursday, December 4th (6-7pm) - Storytime with Santa

Saturday, December 6th (9-10am) - Storytime with Santa

Monday, December 29th (9am-3pm) - Decoration Removal / Tree Take Down

 

Mostly special event volunteers needed, but students who need to complete volunteer hours for course requirements can usually be accommodated.  Volunteer opportunities are flexible, hours and scheduling will be tailored to the individual.

Sibling Groups

TO BE ANNOUNCED 

Siblings will:
· Meet others like themselves
· Discuss feeling and experiences as siblings of children with special needs
· Learn how to handle such experiences positively
· Increase awareness of the special needs of their siblings

 

Parent Training

TO BE ANNOUNCED 
Parents who have shown positive coping skills are invited to attend a Support Parent Training to learn to effectively listen to attend a Support Parent Training to learn to effectively listen to other families in a similar situation. 88% of parents that have been matched with another parent have said that it was very beneficial to talk with another parent. One, they know they aren't the only ones in the situation, and two parents can share tips on parenting, and information about other Human Service Agencies.

 

Scrapbooking

  
Every Wednesday from 11-12 Classroom D, PCMH
Any parent with a child in the hospital and/or expectant parent is eligible to attend
Materials are provided
Feel free to bring special photos

"Knit With Nat" Mission Group

The "Knit With Nat" group makes blankets, booties and hats for FSN-ENC to give to families.
