The
Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina provides emotional support and
resource information to families of children with disabilities, chronic illness,
premature birth and to parents who have experienced the death of a child. |
![]() | Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina (FSN-ENC) has been in Greenville since 1987, when a parent of a child with special needs asked professionals to help her develop a support network for families of children with special needs. The Greenville Children's Service Agency (formerly the Developmental Evaluation Clinic) was instrumental in the development of the program. In 1990 I was hired to expand the support network within the neonatal intensive care unit at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Over the years the program has grown and we now cover all of Women's and Children's Hospital at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, covering the 29 counties of eastern North Carolina as well as maintaining our presence within the community of Pitt County. As a parent of four children I have
experienced the roller coaster ride of being a parent of a premature infant and
within the last few years the parent of a child with a chronic illness. Other
parents have helped me know that I wasn't alone. As director of FSN-ENC I and
the rest of the staff have the opportunity to meet parents every day that need
someone to listen and provide them with the emotional support and resource information
that will help them make the best decisions for their family. | ||
