Congratulations to Amber Fields, recipient of the Angel Boberg Webb Memorial Scholarship 2016
“I found my calling and passion for teaching during my senior year of high school while completing my graduation project. During this project, I worked closely with four students with exceptional needs at a local high school. I taught them how to sing and perform three songs. I was overwhelmingly inspired by these four students’ eagerness to learn, and their very loving and receptive attitudes towards me. The desire to be a teacher entered into my heart through these students, and the memories I have of that experience will always serve as encouragement for me.
I believe that every student despite age, gender, nationality, socioeconomic status, or intellectual disability has the right to receive the highest quality of education possible. As a teacher, it will be my responsibility to afford every student that comes under my instruction the tools, opportunities, and resources that they need in order to obtain that education. I do not view teaching as merely a job, but as my opportunity to enrich not only the minds of learners but also their lives.”
